How does Jay Gatsby disregard the sanctity of marriage in The Great Gatsby?

Does he have an affair with Daisy Buchanan?How does Jay Gatsby disregard the sanctity of marriage in The Great Gatsby?
Even though Daisy is married, he still pursues her. (Although part of that is the fault of Daisy disregarding her own commitment to her marriage). But so does Tom by having an affair with Mertle (I think), so really, no one in that book regards the sanctity of marriage.How does Jay Gatsby disregard the sanctity of marriage in The Great Gatsby?
