Does marriage help or harm someone applying for OCS in the Coast Guard?

Does it look better if a person is married while they are applying to be an officer in the Coast Guard (commitment is always a good quality) or does it make him less desirable since he will have more obligations?Does marriage help or harm someone applying for OCS in the Coast Guard?
no impact whatsoever.Does marriage help or harm someone applying for OCS in the Coast Guard?
It doesn't matter. Though, I've heard it can hinder. If a military member is married the government has to pay BAH to the spouse during OCS and the officer candidates MOS training- among other benefits. I'm not sure if this is true, but can see how it could be (married candidates cost more than single ones). My husband applied for a commission and didn't have any problems, I think they look more at the candidates achievements.
It has absolutely no bearing what so ever. I've been on many OCS interview boards, and it plays no part in the candidate's qualifications or suitability. The things we consider are the applicant's leadership ability/potential, past performance, and moral character.
Depends who you're married to ;)
