I don't really understand. When did Christians become so obsessed with this one particular aspect of society? Why is it so important to them?Why do so many Christians oppose gay marriage?
They fail to understand that marriage is a secular legal contract between two consenting adults and the State.
Subsequently, they fall under the mistaken impression that the matrimonial unions performed by their religion have *something* to do with marriage as it is defined and recognized by the government, which of course they don't.

I'm a Christian. Personally I have nothing against gay people or gay marriages, not ALL Christians are against it!
It is basically just personal beliefs and certain Christians feel more strongly about certain aspects of their religion, the only reason the gay thing is such a big deal and is the most known about thing that Christians oppose is because so many people want to get married to somebody of the same sex.

Because marriage is between a man and a woman. Homosexuality is a sin and immoral. Yes as a christian we are to love all people, however it doesn't change that fact. It's important that we keep the sanctity of marriage in tact. Some say marriage is man made. Then why during the marriage ceremony do they say what God has put together let no man separate, the vows themselves are before God and all the people gathered.

It doesn't matter what the patriarchs did. They don't represent the perfect standard of behaviour; God does. David committed murder. Solomon was a party boy. So on and so forth. One man one woman was the original intention of God and thats what the Bible SAYS. So, maybe now you realize that the patriarchs were SINNERS too?

The things you listed as being condemned were part of the Old Testament law which applied only to members of the Jewish faith was given as a teacher and was only a shadow of what was to come through Christianity.
Alternatively, homosexuality is condemned both by the Old Testament law and the Christian faith and therefore nothing has changed.

According to some state laws it is illegal for a man a woman to have oral sex or for the woman to be on top. should those who practice such ';perversions'; be alowed to marry. You can find enough scripture to say that if you have sex for any other reason than to procreate you are sinning. So if a woman or man who is incapable of having children should they marry and if so are they sinning if they have sex for pleasure. Those who oppose same sex marrige like to lay heavy burdens on others but not on themselves. Jesus as it is writen condemned them.
God created marriage between a man and woman for procreation. Men+men and women+women cannot procreate can they. He also made Eve from Adam (man+woman) - says it all. Slate Christians all you want but God made the world and everyone in it. Just because society says it is ok doesn't make it ok in the eyes of God.
Than, how do you think we will survive??! 2 men or 2 women can't have children!!! Even if there is artificial insemination, you can't live on that. Cause that means someone again had to make children if they want to adopt them or have it from artificial insemination. You don't have to look it just trought religion if you are not believer. What happens when a guy wants to marry his fembot? He's got human rights to marry right? Or marry his car, or his horse(who also is consenting) or maybe his computer. What happens then? Don't all of these humans have the right to marry too? What about their human rights? And then it gets silly, stupid and more lawsuits and more stupid attorneys and suddenly my 7 years of marriage is a joke as a guy has been married to his toaster for 20 years now. Although Jehovah allowed polygamy in the OT, that is NOT permitted for Christians. Tit. 1:6 says: ';If a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination.';
