We lived together for maybe 8 - 10 months before marriage (we were already engaged when we moved together). It was a big scandal in the family and I could not let work know or I could have lost my job. It was 23 years ago. It helped us financially - we were dirt poor at the time. Honestly, we would have been fine if we didn't live together. We have been married for 22 years.
My boyfriend and I lived together for a short period of time, but we found that because we were so young (17) we really didn't get along well. We constantly fought because money was tight, but now we know each others' habits so when we get married and live together we will be more attune to each others needs.
